Safety Measures and Camp Procedures
We will follow all Maryland Department of Youth Camp Rules found here:
1. Please pack your son or daughter plenty of snacks, lunch and drink for the day. We will not allow campers to share food or drink, unless they are siblings.
2. We have hired a professional cleaning service to clean all rooms and high touch areas and surfaces that will be used during A Long Summer on a daily basis. The facility will be completely sanitized each night.
3. All staff members have been screened for COVID-19 and any staff who tests positive or shows symptoms will not be allowed to camp.
4. Check-ins will include a forehead thermometer test. Campers with a temperature of 100.4 or above will NOT be allowed to camp that day. Each group will have their own separate classroom as their “home base” for the week. Each group will have their own separate refrigerator space for keeping lunches cold.
5. We will practice social distancing when feasible, and all staff will wear face coverings often, and within 6 feet of a camper. We will NOT require our campers to wear face masks as they will be practicing social distancing, often outdoors in the summer heat, and will often be very active; so an unobstructed breathing pathway is absolutely necessary.
6. We encourage our parents to stay in their cars during drop-off and pick-up, as we will have our friendly staff helping with this process. If a parent would like to walk their child to the front steps of the school for check-in, you are required to wear a facemask and follow all social distancing and CDC safety recommendations.
7. If a player, parent, or family member comes into contact or tests positive for COVID-19, you MUST notify camp directors immediately. If this happens to anyone present during camp, I will email the camp participants immediately and that person will need to quarantine following CDC guidelines. A Long Summer Directors will consult with local health departments, and camp could be cancelled for a period of time based on the expert’s recommendations.
